Abstract must be written in English. Text in 12 pt. font size and Times New Roman or similar. Use single line spacing between lines. Leave one blank line after title and after author block. Type author(s) followed directly by superscript number of affiliation and add e-mail or fax number of the corresponding author. Underline the name of the author who will present the paper. Title, author(s), and affiliation(s) must be centred at the top of the page. The body of abstract should contain no more than 1500 characters. Type text of abstract flush left and right. Figures should not be included. Abstract in electronic form in .rtf format is obligatory.

 

Oral and poster presentations

Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion. There will be also poster sessions; preferable poster dimensions should be 70 cm (width) x 100 cm (height).
The lecture theatre will be equipped for full audio-visual presentation.

Proceedings

The papers will be published in "Marine Pollution Bulletin" (Elsevier) or "Oceanologia" (Polish SCOR, IOPAS), both indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded, and poster presenters as well as oral paper presenters will be encouraged to submit manuscripts. There is also the possibility to print some papers (as expanded abstracts) in Polish for the future use of non-scientists. The details will be given during the symposium.

Travel and Accommodation

Travel

The airport in Rębiechowo is situated about 10 km from Gdańsk and has direct connections with Copenhagen, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Brussels, and with many other cities via Warsaw.
Gdańsk has good railway connections e.g. to Warsaw (~3.5 hr) and ferries to Sweden (Karlskrona and Nyneshamn).

III. Hostel No.10 is in vicinity of the conference building (opposite to the conference venue, behind the tram line). Breakfast is included in the hotels price. In the conference building is a bar where meals will be served the whole day during the conference. In each hotel is a restaurant and the student canteen at the student hostels.

Social events

Planned social events

  • Sunday 15th, 6 p.m. - opening of Symposium by President of Gdańsk, reception at the Gdańsk Main Town Hall (XV c.) followed by an evening walk around the Old City of Gdańsk
  • organ concert in the Oliwa Basilica (XIII c., organs XVIII c.), sightseeing of the Basilica and the Cloister park
  • half a day long excursion to Hel Peninsula
  • visit to Sopot (IO-PAS)
  • conference dinner

    possible optional excursions (not included into the conference fee):

  • half a day long sightseeing of Gdańsk
  • half a day long sightseeing of Gdynia and Oksywie
  • post-Symposium excursion to Frombork (place of residence (1510-1543) of the medieval astronomer Mikołaj Kopernik) and to the Vistula Lagoon

Fees and payment

Participants should complete the registration form and arrange for payment as indicated below. It is emphasised that accommodation should be arranged by the participant and paid separately and directly to the residence.

The registration fee is:

220 euro before the deadline
250 euro after the deadline.
The accompanying person fee (which excludes printed materials) is 150 euro.

For the Polish scientists and scientists from the eastern Europe countries:

170 euro or 600 zł before the deadline
200 euro or 700 zł after the deadline.
The accompanying person fee (which excludes printed materials) is110 euro or 400 zł.

Students who are members of ECSA can apply to ECSA directly for financial support.
